New Pants isn’t a Chinese clothing line but a Beijing band that’s been making waves, packing stadiums and winning MTV and other awards with its peculiar brand of 80s electro-and-New-Wave-influenced disco-punk-rock featuring bouncy synth melodies, stomp beats, random sampling, vocoderised vocals singing droll Mandarin and English lyrics, and yes, complete with colourful pants.
