Former frontman of Singapore indie stalwarts Humpback Oak, Leslie currently sings and plays guitar for The Observatory. He has released 3 albums with Humpback Oak and with his new band The Observatory, received critical recognition with their debut ‘Time of Rebirth’. They recently released their 2nd album ‘Blank Walls’. Besides performing with The Observatory, Leslie also performs solo sets that showcase his wide repertoire of songs, both recorded as well as rare unreleased material.
With Volcanoes, Leslie makes an unexpected detour from the folk singer-songwriter medium he is known for. Volcanoes comprises seven instrumental numbers he wrote, recorded and produced within a month. Odd rhythm structures coupled with strange, striking melodies that hint at influences such as Tortoise, Messiaen, Robert Wyatt, Talk Talk and the sound art elements of the laptop noise scene.
